Director, Search Strategy

The Director,  Search Strategy is responsible for providing the strategic vision, editorial mix and Search priorities across various clients from both an architectural and an executable perspective.  The Director of Search Strategy utilizes consumer insights, digital trends and well-vetted research to implement solutions that solves client business needs while working closely with the interaction design, visual design, content and technology team members to ensure alignment and to provide input.  Shapes ideas based on user and business insights and being sensitive to both the brand voice and client’s internal workflow capabilities and needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Audit, develop, generate and analyze SEO performance via site and search traffic analysis reporting
  • Create external and internal content strategies and implementation
  • Conduct directory submissions and revisions
  • Perform site-level technical analysis, evaluation and optimization
  • Conduct state-of-site remediation
  • Conduct state-of-search landscape competitive analysis
  • Evaluate effectiveness of existing SEO site strategies
  • Work with internal team leads and agency partners to resolve web-related issues via best practice methodology
  • Interact with internal and external copywriters to optimize copy and landing pages to align with search strategy
  • Generate increased, higher quality traffic to increase conversion percentage
  • Create weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to our clients about their state of SEO
  • Create, implement and monitor SEO campaigns that generate highly engaged qualified traffic, addressing long-tail opportunities and better conversion rates
  • Work with the Paid team to coordinate SEO campaigns with identically orchestrated PPC campaigns
  • Analyze Google Analytics, WebTrends, Omniture or CoreMetrics for specific client wins and losses

Experiences/Abilities You Should Have:

  • Local search experience
  • ORM experience
  • 8+ years experience doing SEO on multiple websites
  • Proven, documented success with increasing rankings and ROI
  • Excellent presentation skills with positive track record of presenting ideas to clients
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of search engines, search algorithms and how they apply to aspects of SEO
  • Proven knowledge of SEM and SEO as well as working knowledge of current and emerging trends and technologies
  • Strong understanding of and experience with Google Analytics, WebTrends, Omniture or CoreMetrics
  • Understanding of social media marketing methods and how to leverage to drive traffic and links
  • Search development, analytics, and programmatical knowledge of Website and Webserver Architecture, including internal and external search builds
  • Exceptional communication skills – both oral and written
  • Outstanding relationship management skills
  • Self-motivated with a bias for action
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to work with a cross-functional team to deliver great work
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
